One of the most recent happenings at Newquay Town Council is the acquisition of the Tourist Information Centre (TIC), which was formerly operated under the auspices of Visit Cornwall and the Cornwall Development Company. The Town Council have now set up a management committee under the chairmanship of Councillor John Fitter who has been involved in tourism all his working life, and we will in the future be looking to develop very close working relationships with all aspects of business, marketing and tourism related providers in the Town. We are confident that having removed the uncertainty about the future of the TIC, we now have the opportunity to develop and increase the business potential of the facility which is located at the council office in Marcus Hill, for the ultimate benefit of all our residents. To this end we will be holding our first meeting on Monday the 13th September 2010, which will include representatives from a variety of tourism providers. The conservative grouping together with our partners on Newquay Town Council are determined to increase our asset base, and this is another example of our council in action.
